Seems like all we see on television is something about the immigration debate in Arizona. They are at “ground zero” for this American problem. Gov. Brewer has fought valiantly for all the citizens of her state by opposing illegal immigration. Most news talk shows regard her as either racist or anti-American because of her actions. Arizona has provisions that allow police officers to check on one’s immigration status when stopped by police. They have also started a debate on “anchor babies” that will not go away either. Are these debates for state and local governments to have or should the federal government be the only agency that should handle them? If the answer is the local and state governments, we have some hope because they are actively passing laws restricting the rights of illegals. If the federal government wins out, America has a serious problem because the feds have not been enforcing immigration law for years.
The immigration issue is not only in America. Many European countries face staggering levels of unchecked immigrants pouring over their borders. Within the next 30 years, Arabs will dominate the local populations in Holland, Spain, Italy and France. Anyone remember the fires and riots around Paris? In Germany, they face an ever growing Turkish minority that is hostile towards German history and heritage. Angela Merkel of Germany and David Cameron of Great Britain have already declared that liberal multi-culturalist policies have failed.
The one thing tying the forces of illegal immigration harassing both Europe and America is the outright refusal of these new people to learn English and participate in American society. They re-create their own segregated society ignoring all things American. The term “Assimilation” now gets the wrath of being racist and intolerant. Local traditions and religions are being replaced because of this shift in population and because the citizens of America and Europe are not having many babies. I can’t imagine what America will look like once Anglo-America is displaced and sent to the dustbin of history as a minority. If current immigration trends continue, this will happen by 2050 and America will transform into a new 3rd world banana republic.
In finishing this first blog I want my readers to know that I am not a racist or harbor any ill will for any group of people. I do think we in America are tired of being called offensive or not inclusive when the newcomers, many of whom are illegal, assume this land is for their taking and have no respect for U.S. authority. We need to go back to the pre-1965 immigration laws that concentrated on abilities and skills rather than bringing the whole family over. There is a correct way to immigrate and “cutting” in line just doesn’t seems fare to those folks who did do the right thing and come over legally. In the words of my American political hero, “America is losing the culture war. Separatism is triumphing over integration. The melting pot has become a salad bowl.
